About This Station

The station is powered by a Watson W8686 (HP2550) weather station. The dashboard live data is collected and updated every 16 seconds and the site data history is updated every hour. This site and its data is collected using Weather-Display Software. The station is comprised of an anemometer, a rain gauge, uv/solar and a thermo-hydro sensor situated in optimal positions for highest accuracy possible.

The data used for the local forecast page has been generated by WXSIM (Weather Simulator) which uses climatology data from nearby official UK Met Office stations, 224 surface advection sites, 3 RAOB (Weather Balloon) launch sites, as well as data from the GFS weather model, and our own station data. With all of the data combined, WXSIM tries to create a fairly accurate forecast at a localised level. Forecasts are automatically generated 6 times a day and uploaded at around 02:30, 06:30, 10:30, 14:30, 18:30 and 22:30 local time. Occasionally, forecasts may be manually updated.

About This City

Welcome to Tamworth the ancient capital of Mercia.

Mercia's exact evolution from the Anglo-Saxon invasions is obscure.

The earliest king of Mercia of whom any details are known is Creoda, said to have been the great-grandson of Icel. Coming to power around 584AD, he built a fortress at Tamworth which became the seat of Mercia's kings.
